GREATER UNDERSTANDING LEADS TO HEALTHIER OUTCOMES
PEDAGOGUES EDUCATED TEACHING STAFF FROM 10 PRIMARY PARTNER SCHOOLS OF SARAJEVO CANTON PRIMARY ON BEHAVIORAL AND EMOTIONAL DISORDERS OF CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS

Having organized seminars in May for pedagogues and psychologists from ten primary schools in Canton Sarajevo on behavioral and emotional disorders of children and adolescents, TPO Foundation continued to cooperate with these primary schools on the project "Peer and gender-based violence".  After they attended the seminars, primary school pedagogues became moderators and prepared workshops for their school colleagues on the topic, which created an opportunity to discuss this issue with teachers in order to learn more about how to detect these disorders and how to apply appropriate methods in their work with children and parents. Those workshops were held from mid-May to the end of June 2018.
In the second program year of the three-year project "Peer and gender-based violence" which is being successfully implemented by TPO Foundation in cooperation with HNC, SC and CBC ministries of education, there are clear goals manifested in increased trust between schools and parents, and in responsibility and clearly-defined roles for everyone involved in developing the child's healthy personality. Within the triangle of cooperation between school, parents and students, it is important to talk and understand different short-term and long-term disorders in children's and adolescent's behavior in order to have a more efficient and healthier outcome for the child, family as well as school community.

Aware of the fact that teachers face problems of different behavioral disorders of children, TPO Foundation organized seminars for pedagogues, followed by trainings for teachers and parents on the topic.
The teachers came to the conclusion that such trainings increase the cooperation between parents of children with behavioral difficulties and teachers, because trust, conversation and skills lead to a healthier school community. Elementary schools where the educational programs were organized are: Edhem Mulabdić, Zaim Kolar, Zahid Baručija, 9.maj Pazarić, Malta, Aleksa Šantić, Deveta osnovna škola, Srednje and Džemaludin Čaušević.
